In January 2012
Ivan “Polletto” Mazzetta , Alessandro “Spielberg” De Marchis and I
decided to go on the snow for one day,
Ovindoli was the stop.
The last time I was found with a snowboard under my feet was more than 7 years ago.
Since then, even if I loved going on the snow, I was never given the opportunity to do so, nor the time.
We left at dawn, chains found at the last minute and a mountain of low-cost snacks,
anything substantial to eat for lunch.
Spielberg has helped to bring each piece of snow cloths,
he was the ‘expert’ among us.
Unbranded and without an eye-catching graphics the only positive note that made my board special was the completely rusted blade,
so completely deteriorated that in the first descents it marked my way down with an orange line,
work of the rust in contact with the snow.
Ivan rented all the gear, he was the novice of this situation.
Spielberg obviously had already everything ,
even his abilities were not in need of a dusting
A journey of twelve hours of snowboarding and driving,
three Italian guys
an endless list of music albums,
a mountain of B series snacks.

Nel gennaio 2012
io, Ivan “Polletto” Mazzetta ed Alessandro “Spielberg” De Marchis
decidemmo di andare sulla neve per un giorno.
Tappa Ovindoli, Abruzzo.
L’ultima volta che mi ritrovai con uno snowboard sotto i piedi fu più di sette anni fa,
da allora nonostante ami andare sulla neve non mi è mai capitata l’occasione per farlo,
ne tantomeno il tempo.
Partimmo la mattina all’alba, catene rimediate all’ultimo minuto e una montagna di snack di serie B,
nulla di concreto da mangiare per il pranzo.
Spielberg ha contribuito a rimediare ogni singolo campo d’abbigliamento da neve,
lui èra quello “esperto” tra noi.
Senza marca ne tantomeno una grafica accattivante l’unica nota positiva che rendeva particolare il mio mezzo èra la lamina completamente arrugginita,
talmente deteriorata che nelle prime discese una linea color arancio segnava il mio traggitto,
opera della ruggine a contatto con la neve.
Ivan affittò tutto, lui èra il novizio della situazione.
Spielberg ovviamente aveva già tutto, anche le sua abilità non avevano bisogno di una spolverata.
Un viaggio di dodici ore tra snowboard ed auto,
tre ragazzi Italiani,
una lista infinita di album musicali,
una montagna di snack di serie B.

Despite a few hiccups the pilot has passed the first phase of editing,
now all post production is focused on audio and cleaner edits.
I would like to thank again all those people who have participated on this project
investing time and patience without receiving any monetary compensation.
I would also like to apologize for a false press release date for the trailer,
that has been delayed several weeks now.
The loss of a memory-card and my transfer to New York has further delayed the whole process.
On a positive note, the trailer is complete minus the narration which will be finished as soon as possible.

FERMO IMMAGINI DAL MONTAGGIO
Nonostante alcune difficoltà l’episodio pilota ha superato la prima fase di montaggio,
ora tutta la post-produzione si concentra sui livelli audio e una maggior pulizia nei tagli.
Vorrei ringraziare ancora una volta tutti coloro che hanno partecipato a questo progetto
investendo tempo e pazienza senza ricevere alcun compenso monetario.
Vorrei anche scusarmi per aver comunicato una falsa data d’uscita per il trailer ufficiale,
che è stata posticipata ormai da diverse settimane.
La perdita di una memory-card ed il mio trasferimento a New York City
hanno ulteriormente rinviato il processo.
Una nota positiva, il trailer è completo ma necessita ancora della voce narrante che sarà terminata il più presto possibile.

L’ex mattatoio fu la mia prima tappa,
chiuso ormai da più di trent’anni oggi ospita un ala dell’accademia di belle arti di Roma,
un museo d’arte contemporanea ed un centro sociale
Il “villaggio globale” per esser esatti.
Scattai questa foto pochi minuti prima della mezzanotte,
nessuno nelle vicinanze, solo il suono ovattato di un rave all’interno del centro sociale
ed un viavai di taxi che si appartavano con qualche prostituta.
Aria di Roma violenta.
Oggi avrei sicuramente infilato tutto il resto nello scatto.

Testaccio, Rome.
The ex-slaughterhouse was my first stop,
closed for over thirty years now host a wing of the academy of fine arts in Rome,
a contemporary art museum and a social center/squat.
The “global village” to be exact.
I snapped this picture a few minutes before midnight,
nobody nearby, only the muffled sound of a rave party in from the social center
and a bustle of taxis hiding with some prostitute.
Smell of Violent Rome.
Today I will definitely put them into the shot.

LA MIA PRIMA SERIE – CAPITOLO 1
Testaccio, Roma.
Comprai la mia prima macchina fotografica nell’estate del 2009,
una Panasonic Lumix Lx3,
il mirino ottico esterno e la parte ottica curata dalla Leica resero la mia scelta molto più semplice.
Dopo qualche settimana di studi e qualche centinaia di foto test scattate realizzai la mia prima serie,
“Roma in giallo”
interamente in notturna e senza nessuna presenza umana venne realizzata in una manciata d’ore,
giusto il tempo di spostarsi da un posto all’altro e qualche minuto per valutare conposizione ed esposizione adeguati.

MY FIRST SERIES - CHAPTER 1

I bought my first camera in the summer of 2009,
a Panasonic Lumix LX3,
the external optical viewfinder and the optical parts manufactured by Leica made my choice much easier.
After a week of studies and some hundreds of test shot i made my first series,
“Roma in giallo”
entirely at night and without any human presence was realized in a handful of hours,
just time to move from one place to another and a few minutes to evaluate the composition and the proper exposure.

one of my favorite spots in Downtown.
Fivehundredseventy-three days later the ”jersey” is not tired yet of my board,
neither i am of him.
